Description
Juicy and flavorful BBQ chicken thighs that are perfect for grilling or baking. Tender meat coated in a smoky, sweet barbecue sauce will be a hit at your next cookout.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
- 1 cup barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 375°F) or preheat your oven to 400°F.
- In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Rub the seasoning mixture all over the chicken thighs, ensuring they are evenly coated.
- If grilling, place the chicken thighs skin side down on the grill. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden brown.
- Flip the chicken thighs and brush them generously with barbecue sauce. Continue to grill for another 10-15 minutes, basting with more sauce, until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
- If baking, place the chicken thighs skin side up in a baking dish and brush with barbecue sauce. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving. Serve with additional barbecue sauce on the side.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the chicken thighs in the seasoning mixture and barbecue sauce for a few hours or overnight before cooking.
- You can use boneless chicken thighs if preferred, just adjust the cooking time as they will cook faster.
