This classic Banana Pudding recipe features layers of creamy vanilla pudding, fresh bananas, and crunchy vanilla wafers, all topped with a fluffy whipped cream. It’s a simple and delightful dessert that everyone will love!

- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups whole milk
- 4 large egg yolks, beaten
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 box (12 oz) vanilla wafers
- 4 ripe bananas, sliced
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together the sugar, flour, and salt.
- Gradually add the milk to the mixture, stirring constantly over medium heat until thickened.
- Once thick, remove from heat and stir in the beaten egg yolks and vanilla extract.
- Return to heat and cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a large serving dish, layer half of the vanilla wafers, half of the sliced bananas, and half of the pudding mixture. Repeat the layers.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Spread the whipped cream over the top layer of pudding.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.
Notes
- For best flavor, use ripe bananas.
- Feel free to add more layers of wafers and bananas if desired.
- You can substitute homemade whipped cream with store-bought if you’re short on time.
