Ingredients

  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Cook macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in flour to make a roux.
  4. Gradually add milk, stirring until smooth. Cook until thickened.
  5. Add cheddar and mozzarella cheese, stirring until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Combine cheese sauce with cooked macaroni. Transfer to a baking dish.
  7. Mix breadcrumbs with olive oil and sprinkle over the mac and cheese.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes or until the topping is golden brown.
