- 4 cups apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 cups rhubarb, chopped
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, chopped rhubarb, granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss until the fruit is well coated.
- Transfer the fruit mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In another bowl, mix the rolled oats, 1 cup of flour, brown sugar, cold butter, and salt. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the fruit filling in the baking dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm, with vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
- Feel free to mix in other fruits like strawberries or blueberries for added flavor.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
