Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, chopped rhubarb, granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss until the fruit is well coated.
  3. Transfer the fruit mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, mix the rolled oats, 1 cup of flour, brown sugar, cold butter, and salt. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the fruit filling in the baking dish.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.
  7. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm, with vanilla ice cream if desired.
