Description
This air fryer whole chicken is juicy on the inside and perfectly crispy on the outside. It’s easy to prepare and cooks in a fraction of the time it takes in the oven, making it a fantastic weeknight meal option.

- 1 whole chicken (about 4–5 lbs)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 1 lemon, cut in half
- Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (182°C).
- Pat the chicken dry with paper towels. This helps ensure a crispy skin.
- In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary.
- Rub the seasoning mixture all over the chicken, making sure to coat it evenly.
- Stuff the cavity of the chicken with the halved lemon.
- Place the chicken in the air fryer basket, breast side down. Cook for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, carefully flip the chicken to breast side up and cook for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Once cooked, remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
- Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider marinating the chicken overnight in the seasoning mixture.
- Cooking times may vary based on the size of your chicken and the model of your air fryer. Always check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer.
