- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Non-stick cooking spray
- Powdered sugar or your choice of toppings for coating
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, mix the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick.
- Use a donut cutter to cut out donuts and holes. Re-roll the scraps to make more donuts.
- Spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray.
- Place the donuts in the basket in a single layer, making sure they do not touch each other.
- Air fry for 5-6 minutes or until golden brown. You may need to do this in batches.
- Remove the donuts and let them cool slightly.
- While still warm, coat the donuts in powdered sugar or your choice of toppings.
Notes
- Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary.
- For a chocolate glaze, melt chocolate with a little bit of milk and dip the cooled donuts.
- These donuts are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
