Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Lettuce, tomato, and your favorite condiments for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, soak the chicken breasts in buttermilk for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. In another bowl, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  4. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge each piece in the flour mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  5. Place the coated chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Spray lightly with cooking spray.
  6. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C).
  7. Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let rest for a few minutes.
  8. Assemble the sandwiches by placing the chicken on the buns and topping with lettuce, tomato, and your choice of condiments.

Notes

  • You can marinate the chicken in the buttermilk overnight for extra tenderness.
  • Feel free to add cheese or pickles for additional flavor.
