- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 hamburger buns
- Lettuce, tomato, and your favorite condiments for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl, soak the chicken breasts in buttermilk for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator.
- In another bowl, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge each piece in the flour mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
- Place the coated chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Spray lightly with cooking spray.
- Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C).
- Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let rest for a few minutes.
- Assemble the sandwiches by placing the chicken on the buns and topping with lettuce, tomato, and your choice of condiments.
Notes
- You can marinate the chicken in the buttermilk overnight for extra tenderness.
- Feel free to add cheese or pickles for additional flavor.
