- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Non-stick cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Soak the catfish fillets in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes to tenderize and flavor the fish.
- In a shallow dish, combine the cornmeal, flour, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Remove the catfish from the buttermilk, allowing excess buttermilk to drip off.
- Dredge each fillet in the cornmeal mixture, pressing gently to ensure an even coating.
- Spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Place the coated catfish fillets in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding.
- Spray the top of the fillets lightly with non-stick cooking spray for extra crispiness.
- Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the catfish is golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
Notes
- Adjust the cooking time based on the thickness of the fillets.
- For a spicier version, add cayenne pepper to the seasoning mix.
- Serve with coleslaw or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
