- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix cornstarch, flour, salt, and black pepper.
- Dip chicken pieces in beaten egg, then coat with the flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Cook chicken until crispy and golden, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add orange juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Stir and bring to a simmer.
- Add the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
- Return chicken to the pan and toss to coat in the sauce.
- Garnish with green onions and serve hot.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, double-fry the chicken.
- Adjust red pepper flakes to control spiciness.
- Serve over rice or noodles.
