Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix cornstarch, flour, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Dip chicken pieces in beaten egg, then coat with the flour mixture.
  3. Heat oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Cook chicken until crispy and golden, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add orange juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Stir and bring to a simmer.
  5. Add the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
  6. Return chicken to the pan and toss to coat in the sauce.
  7. Garnish with green onions and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, double-fry the chicken.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes to control spiciness.
  • Serve over rice or noodles.
